♫ Song No. 3 ~ Life Left to Go

Gosh. I hate skipping days and not being able to post due to having Internet-less-days.

Oh well. This week’s song is special. :3 Why, you may ask? Well, it’s because my boyfriend introduced me to this band – this happens to be his favorite band of all time.

Introducing . . .

Life Left to Go by Safetysuit
Album: [2008] Life Left to Go.

Safetysuit is an American pop/rock band from Tusla, Oklahoma. They are currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. They originated from a band called Crew that was based in Oklahoma, which was originally composed of Doug Brown, Tate Cunningham, Jeremy Henshaw, Curtis Lloyd, and Jesse Carey who met while attending Oral Roberts University. Crew’s popularity began to grow in their hometown – Tusla – after they won a local battle of the bands. This resulted in them recording and co-producing Day After Yesterday with a local producer called David John. The band decided to move to Nashville in 2004 after Curtis and Jesse left the band, and Dave Garofalo joined a few months later. They retitled  Day After Yesterday to create the Crew EP. In the summer of 2005, Crew members were introduced to a new producer called Greg Archilla and recorded four song EP known as Stay. The band’s popularity kept on going up hill locally until they played a showcase at 12th & Porter where they signed a record deal with Universal. They thought it would be better off for them to change the name of the band to Safetysuit in order to avoid an legal problems throughout their career journey.

The current band members are Doug Brown [vocals, rhythm guitar], Dave Garofalo [guitar], Jeremy Henshaw [bass], and Tate Cunningham [drums].

The band’s music has made it to several music rating lists – their 2008 album, Life Left to Go [which is the album I picked this week’s song from] has achieved fame by climbing to #1 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown. Their recent – and second – album peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 and topped the iTunes album chart, etc.

Safetysuit is known for its energetic live performances. They have also toured with many notable bands like The Script, 3 Doors Down, Collective Soul, Parachute, Hoobastank, and most recently, Daughtry.

The album, Life Left to Go, was released on March 13, 2008 by Universal Motown Records and was produced by Greg Archilla. The album received highly positive responses from critics.

Sometimes the edge serves as more than a friend then you thought it would be
and the pages you write in your journal each night are your only release
and the mask you put on it’s like words in a song but there’s no more to be seen
and the failure you see, don’t seem failures to me here at all
oh I’m begging you no, there’s more life left to go
oh I’m begging you please, ’cause I don’t want you to leave
alone as you walk through a crowd and it’s awkward like nobody sees
and you can’t help but wonder would anyone come after you if you’d leave
so a pain grows inside and a fear comes alive like you’ll never be free
but there’s no pain you feel that I know love can’t heal here at all
oh I’m begging you no, there’s more life left to go
oh I’m begging you please, ’cause I don’t want you to leave me
to leave me here on my own, there’s nothing to run from
oh there’s nothing but fear inside you
oh I just hope I can find you
and tell you that I know you’ll smile again
oh I’m begging you no, there’s more life left to go
oh I’m begging you please, ’cause I don’t want you to leave…
