Another Day in Japan

cherry blossoms, softer than the touch
of newborn skin,
form butterfly-wings, and flutter
with the japanese breeze
that carries them in swirls

until they rest in a puddle,
the ripples make tree-tops shiver
but seem as though they never parted
or said their whispering goodbyes.
