When the Fog Wraps Around

This is a place in Lebanon called Harrissa. I’ve been to this place a few times this year, and I must say, it’s amazing.

i watch her as the fog wraps around,
vapor drizzling over her marble figure
but she stands there with arms wide open, smiling down
at sinners and saints all standing beneath her
trying to toss flowers and murmur prayers at her feet.

the scene is all connected with the church’s hymns
when the fog wraps around.
